Walk, bike or jog to see friends. Climb stairs instead of taking an escalator or elevator. And mix it up: weights for strength, something aerobic such as running and practice yoga or Tai Chi for flexibility.
Quit Smoking
If it′s written on capital letter on the pack, there′s a reason: Smoking Causes Lung Cancer, Heart Disease, Emphysema, and may complicate pregnancy. Ever since 1960 when the Surgeon General announced that smoking is harmful to your health, human beings have been reducing their use of tobacco products that harm their life. Just recently, we′ve seen a surge in smoking in adolescents and teens. Beware. Smoking is dangerous to your health.
Avoid Excessive Alcohol Drinking
Recent studies show a glass (and not a bottle) of wine or one drink a day (two for men) can help protect against heart disease, more than that can cause other health problems such as liver and kidney disease and cancer. And take note don′t drink and drive.
Reduce Stress
Easier to say than to do it, stress busters come in many forms. Some techniques recommended by experts are to think positive thoughts. Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like, it can be your 30 minutes of sport, walk on the beach or in a park, read a good books, visit a friend, play with your pets, listen to soothing music, watch a funny movie. Meditate. Count to ten before losing your temper or getting aggravated. Avoid difficult people when possible. Spend time with your love ones.
Keep a Positive Mental Outlook
There′s a definitive connection between living well and healthfully and having a cheerful outlook on life. Be happy! Keep Smiling!
Protect Yourself from Pollution
If you can′t live in a smog-free environment, at least avoid smoke-filled rooms, high traffic areas, breathing in highway fumes and exercising near busy thoroughfares. Exercise outside when the smog rating is low. Exercise indoors in air conditioning when air quality is good. Plant trees.
Buckle Up
While you′re driving a Ferrari, a BMW, a Mercedes-Benz or any other car wear seat belt. Statistics shown that seat belts add to longevity and help alleviate potential injuries in car crashes.
Keep that Nice Smile
Harvard Medical School studied longevity and found one of the most important contributing factors was daily flossing! Flossing and brushing your teeth daily can make your Real Age as much as 6.4 years younger. These studies make a direct connection between longevity and teeth flossing. Nobody knows exactly why. Perhaps it′s because people who floss tend to be more health conscious than people who don′t.
